Said Passage

“The Oriental is irrational, depraved (fallen), childlike, ‘different’; thus the European is rational, virtuous, mature, ‘normal’.”

–(2nd Paragraph on page 40)

This passage from the text is yet another contrasting statement that shows the unfortunate views and opinions of the less than Oriental and the glorified European. Saying that the Oriental is irrational while the European is rational insults the Oriental’s logic, saying the Oriental is depraved while the European is virtuous insults the Oriental’s morals, saying the Oriental is childlike while the European is mature insults the Oriental’s mental growth and competency, and saying the Oriental is different while the European is normal insults the Oriental’s overall view as a human being. The entirety of this passage does nothing but make degrading remarks about the Oriental, which is truly a shame.
