Rereading Said

Personally, I found that rereading Said was very helpful towards my understanding of not only what he was saying, but his tone as well. I was able to make more annotations as I read again, and many more passages in the text stood out to me since I had a better grasp of what the article was truly saying. Said is not an easy read; however, I like the challenge of trying to figure out what he is saying along with his real claim regarding an issue.

Instead of using his own word along with confirming facts to support a claim, he uses passages from others with opposite viewpoints and critiques what they are saying in order to show firsthand that their claim is wrong. I found this very interesting, as I have never seen an author do this before. Although his somewhat contradictory approach on supporting an argument can get confusing for readers, I respect his consistency throughout and his steadfast effort to make his claim known.
