Esther

Prior to this class, I had never heard of the story of Esther, and if I did, it did not stick with me. Reading this text was honestly difficult to read, at least for me personally. I found it to be very all over the place and filled with heightened emotions that would suddenly divert to another place with tension in the story. When Sam and Em shared their versions of the story of Esther in our last class, it made a lot of sense to me and they both gave very clear representations of the story. If I had not heard their summaries of the story of Esther from their own experience learning about it, I do not think that I would have understood this story nearly as well. Towards the end of the story, vengeance is a very prominent theme. I was very surprised by this because the tables really turned as to who was being targeted by the end of the story. I feel like in many ways this had much more to do with Mordecai and the king rather than Esther.
